The Land Down Under Website - what it's for and what it's got.
Firstly, my goal for this site:
My Goal for this site is to Support Australian Flora and Fauna by photographing as much of Australia and it's flora and fauna as I can in my life time. It will all be placed on this site for everyone to see now and for the future generations to see. The more people who can see what our land and wildlife is like, maybe, just maybe, a few more people will help to preserve what we have. Our land, flora and fauna are now in times of change and if we all don't do our bit - we will lose more of it. By photographing as much as I can, I can show people now and the future generations what we are risking by us all not doing 'our bit', to help preserve this wonderous land that we have - The Land Down Under - Australia.
As for the rest of the site, you will find areas on how to help our wildlife, what to do if you find injured wildlife and more. Our wildlife is vulnerable to many, many different factors. Also, you will find links to Birds Australia, our Zoos and Sanctuaries in each State and Territories, RSPCA, National Parks and Wildlife and more.
Zoos play a vital role in the conservation and protection of wildlife, not just in Australia, but around the world. They also play an enormous role in educating people about the animals in their world and the impact that we as people can have on the plants and animals.
In the sites for the zoos, you can adopt an animal for yourself or you can also adopt an animal as a gift. I have had the priveledge of having been given these adoptions as gifts for the Bengal Tiger and the Snow Leopard. I was absolutely delighted! Find out how to become a volunteer. Zoos need a lot of help to maintain the high level of care that the animals receive. Why not take the time to check out the zoo in your area and find out what you can do to help.
There is also a link to the Australian Government site which has the list of Endangered and Extinct Animals in Australia - please take the time to have a look at this as it is shocking to see how much Flora and Fauna is lost already and the amount that are in danger of being lost forever.
There are tips for driving in the different States and Territories as each on of these have different conditions for those driving on the roads as well as for the wildlife. There are simple things that we can do to help lessen the dangers facing our animal and vehicle encounters.
You will also find a photo gallery that has pictures of unique letterboxes, signs that you find in Australia, places that you can find our wildlife, as well as pictures of our many birds, varied landscapes, animals and more. This area will be updated with more pictures of 'The Land Down Under' on a regular basis.
Travelling with Kids? Check out the area we have for this most important subject. I have been priviledged to be able to travel the country since I was about 3. I suppose it was then that I truly got the taste for travel and learning about Australia. Kids love to have fun and have lots of adventures - we have found that if we treat travel as fun and adventure with our kids, everyone has a great time. There are tips, fun, checklists, Special Travel Packs to make and more.
Also included in this site is a Travel Log, that will be updated as we continue to explore Australia from the most Southern Tip to the most Northern and of course from the most Easterly to the most Western Tip and everything in between.
Take the time to browse the site and who knows - maybe you'll get the Travel Bug to see more of 'The Land Down Under' too.
